WellMama was founded by Csilla Andor, an Oregon coordinator for Postpartum Support International, to provide free social support services. These services were to support maternal mental health during and after pregnancy. As a result, Andor and Amy-Rose White, also an Oregon PSI Coordinator, formerly founded WellMama Maternal Mental Health and Support Services later that year.
Andor and White created these services following their own experiences with perinatal anxiety and depression. Even though they were trained clinical social workers, neither Andor nor White had received education about reproductive emotional health issues. They discovered that resources were scarce. As a result, they became determined to bring awareness to maternal mental health, which led to WellMama.
Finally, WellMama was incorporated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit in 2010. Today, WellMama operates a variety of weekly and monthly support groups and wellness workshops here in Lane County. In 2017, WellMama served over 700 women and provided training to over 300 hundred professionals.
